Expert Reviews & Awards
"Luscious ripe pear, almost dripping is how I sense this wine. The palate crisp, minerally, a resurgence of the fruit flowing on a wave of that drive and touch of acidic presence. The finish is of a good length, generous and feeding that fruit with a tinge of spice."

About Pinot Grigio/Gris
Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio are made from the same grapes, the difference in the way these wines are named, usually indicates the style, or the country that the wine is made in. Pinot Gris/Grigio grapes develop a distinctive pinkish grey colour on their skins when they ripen. 'Gris' is the French word for grey while 'grigio' means grey in Italian. Some of the world's best Pinot Grigio wines are made in north-eastern Italy, at the foothills of the spectacular Italian Alps. The Alps border the wine regions of Alto Adige, Trentino and Friuli Venezia Giulia. These regions are known for producing high quality Pinot Grigio that is usually dry, light to medium bodied and has a high acidity. This style of Pinot Grigio often shows aromas and flavours of citrus and green fruits. In contrast to Pinot Grigio from Northern Italy, Pinot Gris from Alsace, in Northern France is more full -bodied, rich and textural. The flavour intensity of these wines is also quite pronounced, showing aromas and flavours of dried fruits and honey, at times. High quality Pinot Grigio and Pinot Gris is made in Australia, mostly in the cooler regions such as the Adelaide Hills, King Valley, Mornington Peninsula, Orange, the Yarra Valley and Tasmania.

About Alto Adige
Located at the foothills of the Alps, Alto Adige is Italy's most northern wine region and it is known for producing exceptionally good Pinot Grigio. The region borders with Austria and an another Italian wine region, called Trentino. Many of the vineyards are planted on the valley slopes that are on either side of the River Adige. These vineyards are ideal for producing high quality, aromatic white wines and elegant, lighter bodied red wines due to their altitude. Overall, the climate in the Alto Adige wine region is moderate with short dry summers and low rainfall. The main white grape varieties in order of importance and volume are; Pinot Grigio, Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc. The most important grape for producing red wine, is the Italian variety called Schiava.
